Winnie will excel with a confident rider who is interested in dressage, working equitation, hunt seat, or just riding for fun.
In the Arena:
This mare is such a joy to ride! She has the work ethic of a successful business woman and loves to be challenged under saddle. Her gaits are smooth as a BMW and she picks up all the gaits with ease. Winnie is very responsive to seat and leg cues and is soft to the bit. She has more buttons than an airplane and will happily collect and move laterally, circle, yield the forehand and haunches, sidepass, and even spanish walk! She's not one of those horses that you need to "lunge the crazies" out of, and can go weeks between riding without issues.
On the Trail:
On open roads, Winnie will walk quietly like a champ. She doesn't bat an eye at cars, machinery, or bicyclists. She will need more experience in tight wooded trails, as she doesn't quite understand the concept of staying on the trail. If you drop your reins and expect her to follow the trail, you will eat tree (trust me). Straight lines aren't in Winnie's vocabulary, so expect to do plenty of steering to avoid ending up in the middle of a shrub. She walks twice as fast as your buddies' old quarter horses and has no desire to thoughtlessly drag her feet up and down the hills. She is not buddy sour and will leave the barn alone, but may try to trot like she has places to be and things to do. She goes over logs, tarps, and bridges. Winnie stands for opening/closing gates, and doesn't seem to mind obstacles. She is not spooky, but she may be anxious and rushy in tight wooded trails. For this reason, we don't recommend her for beginner trail riders.
In the Pasture:
Winnie gets along with any herd - mares or geldings - and she ain't got time for drama.
As a Broodmare:
Winnie is respectful and easy to breed. She has great maternal instincts, and her foals always have gorgeous movement and friendly temperaments. We will happily provide photos of her offspring upon request.
She is up-to-date on vaccinations, deworming, and coggins. Winnie has great ground manners, is good for the farrier, fly spraying, tying, saddling, and loading and hauling in the trailer. We have plenty of videos to share, so send us a PM if you'd like to see them. We highly encourage anyone interested to visit and take her for a test drive to ensure a great fit!
Winnie is priced at $8,500, but we are open to offers to help find her the perfect home before winter.
